What is Ceramic Coating For Your Tesla Model?

Ceramic coating is a chemical polymer solution of an industry-grade level. This solution is applied to the exterior of your car. It acts as a paint protectant against external damage caused by inclement weather, highway debris, and typical wear-and-tear over the years.

Ceramic coatings are excellent for your car. This solution also creates a “hydrophobic” layer of protection, which means it will repel water and decrease the chances of rusting. Not only because of its protective qualities but because it gives your car a nice candy-gloss shine.

This procedure can last for about five years on average, but if you keep your car in good condition, it can last you for as long as your Tesla’s lifetime.

Typically you can expect to pay a decent amount at a well reputable detailer. You may spend anywhere from two thousand dollars to as high as six thousand dollars to get a ceramic coating done. This depends on the size of your car, as well as the condition it is in.

Affordable Options for Ceramic Coating

Now, the price might be a little discouraging for some people. Especially if you just forked over a significant amount of money for the car itself. However, you can do a ceramic coating yourself and save a massive chunk of cash in the long run!

Consider the first-ever sprayable 7H Ceramic Coating Kit.

After years of research and development, Torque Detail has created an affordable option for DIY car enthusiasts. The 7H ranking of this sprayable solution will ensure that you will get two years of protection and an unbelievable shine. Similarly, the process is much easier to apply in this format than competitors.

The science behind the first sprayable 7H coating is simple enough. The formula is delivered in a solvent spray-on formula and dries as a clear, non-crystalline ceramic coating. It will provide the maximum amount of slickness in the most convenient manner possible.

This durable coating is about three microns thick and has a deep, reflective shine that will showcase your Tesla as the trophy it is.

Instructions to Apply Ceramic Coating

1. Prep Your Car’s Surface - Decontamination

Proper preparation is the foundation to get the best results. It is the key to ensuring the best coating possible. You want to ensure that your Tesla is clean and sleek. The solution will adhere easier to a smooth surface free from road debris.

The better the surface is prepared, the better the 7H coating will be able to adhere. The Ceramic Spray is more effective when it bonds to a “clear coat.” If there is grime sitting on your car’s surface, the solution won’t adhere correctly and may come out uneven.

Remove the layer of dirt and contaminants. Use a polish or contaminate wash to clean the surface of your Tesla. If you are concerned about deep contaminants, you can “clay bar” your car as well.

Preferably, you will not have any scratches or other cosmetic imperfections that could cause an uneven coat. Ensure this by either using a scratch remover beforehand or doing a paint correction, if this is the case.

In this process, you start with the included Decontamination Soap. This special soap will essentially strip the car of any dirt, grime, or debris, as well as any previous waxes or coatings that may be residual.

Now your Tesla’s paint will be ready for a successful application of the formula.

2. Application Process

After you have lovingly dried your car, it is time to apply the 7H sprayable coating!

You will want to do this in a well-ventilated area while wearing gloves. If you can, avoid UV rays and/or direct sunlight throughout the process. Double-check to make sure the car’s surface is cool and dry. Shake the bottle thoroughly before using.

Test a small amount of the Ceramic Spray onto your car’s surface. Be conservative with the solution. The expression “less is more” is true here! To avoid over spraying, spray right onto a clean microfiber towel to work into the surface.

Work the formula into the vehicle gently and evenly. Apply the coating to one section at a time. Use another clean microfiber towel to buff the solution into the surface until the desired polish is reached. Ensure all rainbow streaking has been wiped clean and do not allow it to dry.

Continue to reapply the solution as needed to ensure the surface stays coated, and you don’t need to go through this process again. You can use multiple coats but wait at least five minutes in between applications. Repeat this process until the entire car is coated.

After Care Instructions

Now you have to let the ceramic coating cure for forty-eight hours in a cool, dry, covered area. Prevent the car from getting wet during this time to ensure maximum effectiveness and durability.

The ceramic coating should not wash off quickly after a rainstorm or car wash.

Whenever you feel your car needs a refresh, crack open your ‘Detail’ bottle, spray your vehicle, and buff in the product with a clean microfiber towel.
